Today is #RUOKDay, an opportunity to check in on each other and start meaningful conversations; one simple question could change someone’s life for the better.
Look around at your family, neighbours, friends and colleagues – not just today, but every day of the year. If you think someone is having a tough time or just aren’t themselves, don’t ignore the signs – start a conversation and ask “are you ok?” Similarly, if you're struggling there is no shame in asking for support; it’s OK to not be OK. For tips on asking this R U OK Day? visit: www.ruok.org.au for advice on how to have a conversation with a work colleague visit: bb.org.au/2c9PalH
It’s also important to be prepared in case someone answers “no" – and know what support options are available. If someone is struggling, you can always recommend or contact our 24/7 Support Service, on 1300 22 4636 or online at www.beyondblue.org.au/getsupport

This is Karen Ristevski, a good friend of mine and Love Your Sister. While Sam was unicycling around Australia in 2013 doing events nearly every night, Karen kindly donated mastectomy-friendly frocks from her own designer range Bella Bleu Boutique Melbourne so I could feel good at all the fundraisers. We’ve laughed together, dressed and undressed together, and shared our highs and lows. I am dismayed to hear that Karen was reported missing from her home in Avondale Heights (VIC) on Wednesday with no leads in the case so far.
Have you seen Karen? Please share this with all your Facebook friends in the hope that somebody may have seen her. Contact Avondale Heights police on 03 9337 6777 if you have any relevant information.
Em, Sam and I are thinking of Karen’s family and praying for the safe return of this beautiful, gentle and loving woman. XX Connie www.facebook.com/karen.ristevski
WATCH: Violent scenes have erupted in Kalgoorlie today after a man was charged with the manslaughter of a 14-year-old boy. Protesters took to the streets demanding justice. Details tonight in 9 News Perth at 6pm.
A Gympie "Man" has been given 20 months for the rape of a 7 year old girl.
Share this poster to show your timeline that you think he deserves much more time behind bars !
This story does have a good side however, the bravery of true friendship in this post is nothing short of amazing !
TWO girls, aged seven and nine, took a sunset walk across a Gympie region property to bottle-feed a lamb.
The girls were gone for ten minutes. In that time, the 7-year-old girl was attacked and raped.
It was January 10, this year, on a property belonging to the 7-year-old girl's father.
Her rapist, aged 24 at the time, worked for the father and lived in a caravan on the property.
He had been drinking vodka and rum before the girls walked past his caravan. One good thing that judge Gary Long did was say that the alcohol was not a mitigating factor in the rape of this girl.
That is a HUGE victory because the defence attorney Harry Fong was arguing that the man had no previous convictions and this was a blitz style attack which meant it was a "momentary lapse".
Sorry but raping a child is not a "momentary lapse" it is a deliberate decision to cross a line and destroy the innocence of a child once and for all.
The encounter began innocently; he chased them and tickled them before the 9-year-old girl managed to escape.
But the court heard the man, who had never been convicted of a crime, then held the 7-year-old girl between his legs and raped her.
The attack only stopped when the girl's friend ran back, grabbed her legs and pulled her away from the man. Even the judge recognised the fact that this girl's bravery literally saved her friend from her ordeal !
Well done brave little girl, you saved your bestie from who knows what ! You should be incredibly proud of yourself we at FACAA surely are !
If anyone knows either of these girls or their families please let them know that FACAA would love to help them with our Phoenix program !
They ran back to the family home, where the girl told her mother what happened.
The two girls' fathers immediately went to confront the man, but he had already fled into the surrounding bushland, leaving his wallet and phone in his haste.
He later called triple-0 and identified himself but said he "needed to get a few things sorted out".
Police found him the following morning, and took him to Gympie Hospital for injuries sustained has he ran from the property.
The accused was for some reason granted bail, during the court process it was noted his parents were there throughout the trial. His mother however could not handle the sentencing.
It was also noted that there were several character references presented to the court. All of which spoke of their "surprise" at hearing of the charges. Funny thing, those who wrote the references were "surprised" but they still wrote the reference. They still tried to get a convicted child rapist to walk away without charge.
It doesn't matter who you thought someone was, if they rape a child they are then a child rapist ! They are undeserving of sympathy of empathy they deserve nothing but time behind bars well away from being able to hurt a child ever again !
Judge Gary Long gave him 5 years behind bars for the rape, however for some reason he back dated it to the time of the incident so he will be eligible for parole in July 2018.
Oddly enough the pathetic coward child rapist was granted bail after his arrest (well that's not odd to be honest) so why was his charge back dated to when he was arrested ?
It's not like he is honouring time served ? why should his time be backdated ? If anyone knows the answer to this we would love to hear it because this one has got our heads spinning.
As always if this angers you please sign and share our petition so we can ensure that judges can finally be held accountable for insane decisions like this one ! (A)

New research suggests yoga and meditation could cut the risk of getting Alzheimer's disease. Experts found a three-month course of the exercise was more effective than crosswords and memory games at preserving brain function. #9Today
