"Well done to this young man who just kindly assisted an elderly man with a cane cross Spring Street in Bondi Junction. Despite being with his school friends he was more than happy to help. Such a small act by one can make a big difference to another!"
Have you spotted an act of kindness in your neighbourhood? Share your story below and help us spread the love. We'll feature our favourite stories! <3 #sun7
Ryan was in line at Coles when he noticed an elderly lady in front of him having problems processing her payment. After her card was declined several times, Ryan stepped in, handing the woman a $50 note to cover her expenses. When she asked how she could pay him back, he assured her she must just enjoy her day. Ryan says he was moved to help the woman by her resemblance to his grandmother. "I just could not walk away... That's how my mum and dad brought me up." What an amazing Aussie bloke, and beautiful act of kindness. #9ACA
Are you ready for today’s feature? We honestly think this is one of the best ever! Every photo is so magical and it’s really hard to believe all these special places are right here in Tassie :)
First up we visit one of the most beautiful camping grounds in Tassie – the stunning Leven Canyon. We then walk to the mystical Chasm Falls, sit by the campfire at Lake Rosebery, take in a breathtaking view from the summit of kunanyi/Mt Wellington, drive the stunning road to Scotts Peak Dam and witness a Sleepy Bay Milky Way!
We also stop by a place called Iron Blow, share a picture-perfect landscape from Winkleigh, Visit Flinders Island Tasmania, get up close and personal with Lion Rock and pinch ourselves at the view from the Zig Zag track.
Oh and did we mention we climb Tassie’s highest peak and wonder with amazement at the view from Mt Ossa, fly high above Cape Hauy with Osborne Heli Tours and take you to the very secret Featherstone Falls! There are of course many more incredible places to include in your next Tassie adventure.
You can inbox us your photos or post to our wall - then we can share them with the world! If you are on instagram you can tag us via either of our accounts #TasmaniaGram or #InstaTasmania #Tasmania
Richard Berry's name will no longer adorn Melbourne University after a long anti-racism campaign. The influential surgeon who died in 1962 lobbied for the sterilisation of Aboriginal people, homosexuals and sex workers.
CN: Rape, profiteering from rape, flawed justice system
These men *allegedly* raped that little girl. I believe her. I also believe that she felt too traumatised to be put on the stand because courtrooms are the least welcoming places for rape survivors to be.
And now an accountant claiming to represent these maggots is trying to negotiate a $250,000 deal to sell their story. Take note of where he works and boycott: Inca Partners. And if any media outlet takes this offer to buy their story, boycott them too.
At Vinnies we are deeply saddened by the decision from Fair Work Australia to cut Sunday and Public Holiday penalty rates.
This is an attack on people who already struggle to survive and for whom penalty rates make an important difference from week to week.
The changes to penalty rates will affect more than 700,000 workers across the retail, hospitality, fast-food and pharmacy industries. These cuts will disproportionately affect single parents, women, young people and people who already carry the burden of inequality. The rights of workers should take priority over the maximisation of profits.
We stand with the people who have been affected. If you'd like more information on what these cuts mean, head to our FAQs here: http://bit.ly/Vinnies_PenaltyRatesFAQ
