Are you looking for a career that’s rewarding, challenging and contributes to the safety of our community?
We particularly want to encourage applications from women for this course.
A day as a firefighter can involve anything from a road crash rescue to responding to a structure or vegetation fire. The roles include frontline firefighting, education and training, fuel reduction, rescues and more.
We are committed to encouraging gender diversity across the Fire Service and that starts at the recruitment level, by seeking more female applicants.
Firefighting has traditionally been a male dominated profession. That is changing across the country as fire services actively seek to bring more women into the service.
Reaching out to female applicants broadens our talent pool. And research has shown that greater diversity improves organisational performance, productivity and community safety outcomes.
The TFS already has almost 950 female volunteer firefighters who love the work they do and make a huge contribution to the safety of their communities. But there are only 11 female career firefighters so we need more.
The recruitment process is thorough and physical standards are high, but it’s definitely achievable.
The Firefighter recruitment process includes written aptitude testing, physical aptitude testing, interviews and other assessments to ensure suitability for the job.
Chris Arnol Chief Officer
There are 15 positions on the course, with vacancies in the North West, Northern and Southern Regions. You can find more information at www.jobs.tas.gov.au and www.fire.tas.gov.au/Show?pageId=colRecruitment

Due to a change in circumstances I am looking for a place to live house/share. I have tried all the online sites and contacted people I know, I have have had zero luck unfortunately. Its been hard due to me having my dog Trigger. Trigger is an american staffy and a big teddy bear. I start uni in late February at Curtain in Bently (Perth) so a house around that vicinity or close would be ideal, but not essential.
I can assure ill pay all my bills and my rent on time everytime. Im ex Army so very clean and orderly. Im easy going enjoy a bbq, socialising and im into keeping active, cycling and kitesurfing etc.
Me: Bob, you want a hotdog? Bob: No thank you mummy. Me: Want some chips? Bob: No thank you mummy. Me: You want a drink? Bob: No thank you mummy. Me: C'mon, let's get a juice. Bob: I said no thank you mummy! Would you just start listening to me!!!
Someone's overheard Mummy taking to Daddy I think...

A 90-year-old man said to his doctor, "I've never felt better. I have an 18-year-old bride who is pregnant with my child. What do you think about that?" The doctor considered his question for a minute and then said, "I have an elderly friend who is a hunter and never misses a season. One day when he was going out in a bit of a hurry, he accidentally picked up his umbrella instead of his gun. When he got to the creek, he saw a beaver sitting beside the stream. He raised his umbrella and went, 'bang, bang' and the beaver fell dead. What do you think of that?" The 90-year-old said, "I'd say somebody else shot that beaver." The doctor replied, "My point exactly."
It's much cheaper and you can adjust to suit your taste!
Easy & delicious!
BANANA BREAD - Recipe 4 Ingredients One Pot One Bowl
• 2 large bananas, mashed • 1 cup whole egg mayonnaise (essential for the eggs and oil in this cake/bread) • ¾ cup raw sugar • 2 cups self raising flour (Gluten free SR Flour works)
Preheat oven 180degC/360F. Line a loaf tin with baking paper. Place all ingredients in a bowl and gently fold together until all combined. Pour into tin and bake for 40-45 minutes. Allow to cool a little before cutting and enjoying warm!
Lovely on it's own, with a little butter, or cream cheese icing.
Tip: I have tried Greek yoghurt (with honey) instead of mayonnaise and have found it does work, but make sure you get a good quality yoghurt. Not all yoghurts are the same, so it will depend on where you live as to the brand. Having said that, we have made, shared and tasted this recipe so many times over the years and you cannot taste the mayonnaise, as a good quality whole egg mayonnaise is essentially emulsified eggs and oil, the base of any good cake.
