This is probably the cutest video you'll see today. After noticing an agitated koala outside his house with prickles all throughout it's fur, this Aussie bloke decided to grab a hairbrush and help comb them out. And then a great friendship was born. 🐨 (Video: Bruce Atkinson)
Sharing is one of the first lessons we are taught.
We repel against it, our greedy little minds come with every excuse to not let another toddler play with our toys.
But our mums and dads insist, embarrassed by the idea that their kid could be the greedy arsehole in the corner holding all of his belongings while his friend picks grass.
Eventually we give it up, we learn that sharing is right. We grow.
Because sharing is the right thing to do.
But now as adults we sometimes slip back into our old habits. We want all the things even though others have nothing. We make excuses to ourselves and convince ourselves that we've worked hard and we deserve all the goods.
We watch the scenes in Allepo and try to sit in our countries keeping all of our toys all to ourselves while Syrians are killed or left with no homes and no medical treatment. Orphaned babies.
We make up excuses about terrorism and conspiracy theories to help us justify sitting in our corner with all of our stuff...
And one day in the future I believe people will want to know how? How did authorities not insist that we share... How are we not embarrassed for watching it on our screens and carrying on as if it did not happen.
And when that day comes, who will you be remembered as? Who will I be remembered as?
Well today I am sharing. Today I will make a donation. Today I will prove the Dalai Lama right when he said "western women will save the world"
Together we can save the world, but singularly we can save someone's world.
And let's show the world that we share because we were taught that it's the right thing to do.
