This week we heard an inspiring story from pilot Michelle Huntington during her talk at the International Women's Day Forum at the Virgin Australia Melbourne Fashion Festival.
After being told by her school careers advisor that “girls could not be pilots” and advised to pick something she’d be good at, such as art, Michelle was determined to prove a point.
A few years later she borrowed $20K from the bank, telling them it was to redecorate her house. She sold her house and car soon after and paid for her whole training upfront.
Even today, some passengers are surprised to see that a female is piloting their aircraft but the reaction is overwhelmingly positive. One passenger in particular did a double take and exclaimed, “It’s a chick”. He then stepped backwards which created a domino effect, causing passengers behind him to fall over.
Michelle loves to inspire young girls to think outside “the norm”, when it comes to dreams and career options. “If a girl can fly a plane, then why can’t she build them too,” she says.
The new Royal Adelaide Hospital is not only a game changer for health care in South Australia, it’s also a magnificently designed building. We want all South Australians to be just as proud as we are as we show the rest of the world what state of the art healthcare looks like.
This virtual tour is a way for everyone to see inside our new hospital, as our health staff embark on at least three months of testing and training.

Beware everyone. Especially those with young children. These are in public toilets everywhere at the moment but not many people realise the menace they represent. They appear to be safe enough but it's only when you start to use them the danger is apparent. I fell victim to one today and felt I should let people know. The problem is when you start urinating into it a fan starts and blows the wee everywhere. I got it on my shoes and trousers and in my face. The fans are really powerful.!!Completely unfit for purpose. Don't be caught out.!!

PLEASE SHARE: This little boy lost a hat given to him by his father, who tragically died in an accident last year. He and his family were travelling on Jetstar Flight JQ749 from Sydney to Launceston on Monday, and have launched a desperate search to find the hat. Really hoping they can manage to track it down. ❤️ #9Today
